I recently received the March issue of Alberta Venture magazine with its much anticipated Meeting and Convention Planning Guide. I was thrilled to see my Timewise business partner Brent Taylor featured in the Impress the Pros article (click here to read). Brent has become actively involved with MPI over the past year as President-Elect of the Great Edmonton Chapter. In the past 6 months he has attended international MPI conferences in Las Vegas and Atlanta. Alberta Venture’s annual Planning Guide offers other helpful articles as well as an updated directory of more than 200 venues to hold your next meeting. Pick up your hard copy or visit them online today!
What’s on YOUR Mind in Midwinter?

As we head into March and dream hopefully, although somewhat unrealistically about Spring, the subject most on my mind is FOOD. I eat when I’m happy, sad, stressed, and inactive, when it’s dark outside, before I work out, and after. FOOD was even the topic of a recent conference that Timewise was privileged to help plan. The Food Today, Tomorrow, Together Conference was organized to focus on the critical issue of food security. While the subject was a serious one, a highlight for conference delegates was an evening appropriately titled A Taste of Alberta. On the opening night of the event the venue was filled with the mouth-watering aromas of locally grown food and wines while a homegrown band, Scott Cook and the Weekenders, played lively tunes. Some of the talented Alberta farmers and entrepreneurs who provided yummy samples of their wares included 2 Greek Gals (Calgary Farmers Market), Rose Ridge Land & Cattle (Beverly, Sherwood Park, Edmonton City, Salisbury Farmers' Market), Sandy's Country Kitchen (Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Fort Saskatchewan Farmers Market), Le Cafe Entre Amies (various Farmers Markets & Cite Francophone, Edmonton), and the Prairie Mill Bread Company, Northlands and Hillhurst Farmers Markets (www.prairiemillbread.com). D'Lish (www.dlish.ca) offered fresh, organic items from their menu, and an Edmonton brewery Amber Brewery (www.ambersbrewing.com) and winemaker En Sante Winery (www.ensantewinery.com) provided generous samples of their made-in-Alberta products. A delightful evening that got the conference off to an enthusiastic start and had many looking forward to spring and fresh, locally grown food!
